Joanne Hanson 

Born in New Zealand, Joanne’s family moved to California when she was 12.  She moved to Colorado in 1986 and has lived in Silverthorne for 33 years. Now retired from a career in Real Estate, her time is spent hiking, skiing and painting the beautiful scenery around her.Joanne returns to New Zealand often, visiting family and friends and she still has a deep connection to all things Kiwi! Although she didn’t start painting until about 25 years ago, 

Joanne quickly learned her craft with a combination of her artist sister’s mentoring and the many classes and workshops she has taken from other oil painters such as Peggi Kroll Roberts, Carol Marine, Jill Carver, Larisa Aukon, Tim Deibler, Kevin Wechbach, 

Teresa Vito, Chula Beauregard, Bill Cramer, Leanne Wirta, Kate Keisler, Christina Davis and Mitch Baird.The motifs she chooses to paint are eclectic; from figurative to animals and primarily, Colorado landscapes. Joanne exhibits her work only in Colorado, at Arts Alive Gallery in Frisco and High Country ARTisans in Silverthorne, although her work is hanging all over the world in countries ranging from New Zealand to Mongolia! She has received awards from Women Artists of the West Summit County Arts Council and the Continental Divide Land

Trust Plein Air Event. Joanne has been a judge for multiple years for the Congressional Art Competition for high school students held by Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse.
