A few years ago, I started a journey in ceramics. I vowed not to get addicted, however, I have become passionate about exploring all of the wonderful opportunities that clay and glaze have to offer and I cannot get enough of it!
I am inspired by all things in nature. A colorful Sunrise and Sunset; the blues and greens of the ocean, a Colorado bluebird sky with puffy white clouds and a snow-covered mountain. Birds, butterflies, dragonflies, bees and flowers are often incorporated into my ceramic’s pieces.
I exclusively “hand build” my creations from slabs of clay. I love texture and color and love to experiment with different decorating techniques. My current passion is for the art of sgraffito. I enjoy the process of carving clay to reveal contrast of the white clay and the black or brightly colored underglaze to create a unique and one-of-a-kind image that brings joy and happiness to the viewer. I also have some experience in watercolor and acrylic painting that I often incorporate into my ceramic pieces. When I don’t have my hands in clay, you can find me cooking a meal for friends and family, listening to music, biking, skiing, bird watching or relaxing on my porch swing and enjoying my flowers.
